Pressure Sensitive Labels

Also known as decals or stickers, these are a great for food and beverage, automotive, personal care, and even nutraceutical products.

What Are Pressure-Sensitive Labels?

Pressure-sensitive labels are pressure-sensitive adhesive labels with pressure-sensitive inks and pressure-sensitive adhesives. Some pressure-sensitive inks use pressure-activated pigments, which chemically change when pressure is applied.

There are a number of pressure-sensitive adhesive labels that can be used. They provide a range of performance properties such as adhesion, water resistance, and ultraviolet light protection. Some pressure-sensitive adhesive labels also use pressure-activated pigments. These may change when pressure is applied chemically changing the color when pressure is applied to the label surface.

The Individual Components Of A Pressure-Sensitive Label

A pressure-sensitive label is made up of five parts: the back film, the release cover, the topcoat, the faceplate, and the adhesive. The back film is often made from paper foil or plastic film and serves as the base layer for any other four layers. The release cover is a special coating applied to the top lining surface that repels the adhesive layer. The topcoat is laminated on the label for better protection against damage caused by labels and gives them a finished look. The faceplate is the material used for labeling and it's what the consumer can get on a label. The adhesive is merely how you stick label stickers onto packages or bottles. Many factors influence the selection of the right pressure sensitivity label sealant.

Benefits Of Pressure-Sensitive Labels

Pressure-sensitive labels are often used for their pressure or pressure-sensitive adhesive resistance to abrasion and pressure sensitivity. With this type of label there is no need to worry about manual scuffs because they're resistant to it. This enables the pressure-sensitive labels to endure rough handling without adversely affecting the pressure-sensitive adhesive.
